BRS: The Early Years

SKU: B001 Categories: ,

Just over fifty years ago, the great transport undertaking, British Road Services, came into being and absorbed so many of the famous names in British road haulage. Written by Arthur Ingram & Gordon Mustoe, the book concentrates on the vast fleet and companies taken over during its formative period, before the 1952 change of Government, which at first put the whole nationalisation programme on hold, and then eventually reversed the whole procedure. Printed in hardback format and designed by Peter Davies, the book contains over 200 historic mono images in its 176 pages, all supported by well researched text presenting the historic background and the operation of the BRS nationalisation programme. Informative appendices identifying both the management structure and Divisional/Group/Depot operating structure with its acquired undertakings are also a feature of the book.
